Mantra of the month
“I AM MY OWN MEDICINE”
Each of us has experienced the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in our unique way. Hopefully, the importance of ‘Wellness’is one lesson we will remember for a long time to come.
Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits daily to attain better physical and mental health outcomes so that instead of just surviving, we are thriving.
To bring wellness in, you need to understand what is leading to “unwellness”, if that is even a word!
There are endless factors surrounding you that lead to “unwellness”.
While you may be tempted to hold the external world responsible for your “unwellness”, take a step back and reflect.
“Are you in any way contributing to it?”
Observing your internal world on a frequent basis may offer you several insights.
The way you process your past experiences, your current circumstances and your expectations of the future are most likely influencing how well or unwell you feel.
To put it precisely - the demons of the past, the restlessness of the present, and anxiety of the future are key contributors to the “unwellness” you may be experiencing. You must become “actively" conscious of your inner world and take notice of how powerfully your mind affects your wellbeing.
Rehashing the past, experiencing restlessness owing to scattered energy in the present, and being anxious about the future, are all part of being human. The important thing is to notice how often and how much of your life energy is getting diverted into this way of “Being”.
Here are two simple things, which can be very easily integrated into your daily routine, that can help you understand yourself - Deep breathing and Journaling.
These habits, if practiced regularly, will help you calm your mind and choose thoughts that support you. A calm mind and positive thinking may be exactly what you need to feel well. Know that you have this power within you to start feeling well again and that makes you your own medicine.
Slow down, take a deep breath and repeat the mantra,
“I am my own medicine”
Trust yourself to support you to make small changes that lead to big shifts.
This month’s mantra comes with the intent to support you on your wellness journey. Slow down, remember to BREATHE, and repeat the mantra
“I am my own medicine”
May these powerful words support you in creating a healthy body and mind.
